Zimpro Animal Nutrition’s Feed First team has released a new book
that examines the causes and effects of sow lameness for those in
the industry. The book, “An Introduction to Sow Lameness, Claw
Lesions and Pathogenesis Theories,” was authored by several members of the group, formed several years ago to identify and prevent
lameness in pigs. The book discusses ways to reduce lameness in
commercial swine operations through lesion assessment, nutrition,
gilt selection and corrections like trimming.
